SEI's Q102-M12+ Ribbon Fiber Splicer Honored by 2024 Lightwave Innovation Reviews

Sumitomo Electric Lightwave (SEL) announced today that Sumitomo Electric’s Q102-M12+ Ribbon Fiber Splicer has been awarded a 4.0 by the 2024 Lightwave Innovation Reviews panel in the Data Center Fiber, Cable, Enclosures and Accessories category. A product given the distinction of 4.0 means that it is, “[an] excellent product with technical features and performance that provide clear and substantial benefits.”

The Q102-M12+ was launched as part of Sumitomo Electric’s line-up of Quantum Fusion Splicers in September of 2023. With new features like patented NanoTune™ technology and an Enhanced-Auto-Clamping Adjustment System, the Q102-M12+ was designed to splice up to 12-count ribbon fiber quickly but accurately. It saves technicians time and money on the most complex of jobs.

“While a ribbon splicer is nothing new, the use of AI to speed splicing by accounting for impairments is novel and practical use of AI capabilities,” said a member of the judging panel.
